Steps to Become a Professional Bondsman

Step 1

Take the state mandated 30hr bail bondsman runner course

• Receive completion certificate at completion
• $390

Step 2

Register for the state mandated 19-16 bail bondsman/runner test

• Register at https://candidate.psiexams.com
• $49 per scheduled test
• YOU MUST BRING COPY OF DL, AND CLASS COMPLETION CERTIFICATE THE DAY OF TESTING

Step 3

Register for fingerprinting

• Register at https://www.identogo.com/contact
• $50.50 for fingerprinting cost
• This includes your SLED and FBI background check
• Keep receipt it must be mailed into the SCDOI with your application

Step 4

Have a passport size photograph taken

• This can be done at most CVS/Walgreens locations

Step 5

Apply for your License:

• Complete your application for licensure at www.NIPR.com        
• Email the following to [email protected]
  • A copy of your 30hr class completion certificate
  • A copy of your passing PSI test score
  • A copy of your fingerprinting receipt
  • A passport size photograph
  • $400 Licensing Fee
• Minimum of $10,000.00 Cash or Certificate Deposit Pledged to the State as security 
  • Can assume 4x the security pledged in total liability
  • May execute any one risk at 1/2 of the securities pledged  

Step 6

Wait on the SCDOI to process your application, you will receive confirmation of your acceptance or denial to the address you have provided!
